Entrants information Welcome to the 22nd Stockholm Marathon. The race will take place on Saturday, 3 June starting at 14.00. A total of 14,000 runners from all over the world have entered. Please read this information carefully. Your start number is printed on the enclosed registration card. You are required to present this card when you pick up your race number. Registration will be held at ”Idrottshögskolan” behind the 1912 Olympic Stadium (see map). To reach the registration, take the underground train (”T-banan”) to the station ”Stadion”. Registration will be open on Friday, 2 June from 10.00 to 20.00 and on Saturday, 3 June from 09.00 to 12.30. At registration you will get your race number and the complete start list. During the race, your number bib must be clearly visible on your chest. It is, of course, forbidden for runners to give their race number to another runner. ![]() Start list: You will find the start list on our Internet website: www.marathon.se/eng Champion Chip: At the registration you will also get your Champion Chip that will be used for recording your time during the race. For more information – klick here! To the start: The best way of getting to and from the start/finish at the Olympic Stadium is by underground train (”T-banan”). You get off at the station ”Stadion”. On 3 June you just show your number bib when you enter the underground or a local bus and you will get a free ride on the race day. Before the start: Runners in the red start group assemble at ”Arbetslivscentrum”. All other runners assemble at ”Östermalms IP”. You have to be at ”Arbetslivscentrum” or ”Östermalms IP” no later than 13.30. Changing rooms: Female runners use the changing rooms at ”Idrottshögskolan”. Male runners in red start group (see below) use changing rooms at ”Idrottshögskolan”. The changing rooms at ”Östermalms IP” will be used by all other male runners. All changing rooms are open from 10.30 to 21.00. Do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms! ![]() The race starts at 14.00 on ”Lidingövägen”, a street which runs alongside ”Östermalms IP”. Runners are divided into four different start groups. From your registration card you can find out which group you belong to. The race number is assigned on the basis of your personal marathon record given on the entry form and cannot be altered. On your number bib there is a coloured dot to mark your start group. The red group starts just behind the seeded group of top runners. The blue, yellow and white groups (no coloured dot on the number bib) follow in that order. The seeded group consists of men with numbers 1 – 100 and women with numbers K1 – K50. The red group are men with numbers 101 – 500 and 15001 – 15500. The blue group are men with numbers 501 – 3000 and 16001– 17500 and women with numbers K51 – K250 and K2501 – K2700. The yellow group are men with numbers 3001– 5500 and 18001 and higher plus women with numbers K251 – K700 and K2701 and higher. The white group are men with numbers 5501 – 12000 and women with numbers K701 – K2500. There will be separate exits from Östermalms IP for each group. Make sure that you are in the right area not later than 13.30. Clothing: You can place your track suit or any other clothing in specially designated areas at ”Östermalms IP” and ”Arbetslivscentrum”. Write your name and start number on the bag. Leave the bag in the designated area not later than 13.30. After the race you can pick up your belongings at ”Östermalma IP”. Do not leave any valuables in the bag with your track suit. Safety deposit service: For safe keeping of your valuables we advise you to hand them in at the safety deposit service at ”Östermalms IP”. You must present your race number, which is your receipt, when you reclaim your valuables. The course is two laps through the central parts of Stockholm. Note that the laps are not identical. The first lap is 21.5 kilometres, the second lad is 20.7 kilometres. Each kilometre is indicated by a sign. The course is 42195 meters. Since this is a two lap course the top runners will lap the slower runners by the end of their second lap. To avoid problems runners on lap one should keep to the right. Runners on lap two should keep to the left! All runners must follow instructions from the policemen and race officials along the course. ![]() There are refreshment stations at about every third kilometre (about every 2 miles) along the route. See the map for exact locations. There will be two long tables at each station. At the first table, covered with a yellow cloth, Pripps Energy, an energy drink, is served. At the second table, covered with a transparent plastic cloth, cups of water are served. Large plastic trash bags for used cups will be placed just after the refreshment stations. Please leave your cups here! A sponge station is situated just before each refreshment station. After using your sponge, place it in one of the large barrels at the side of the road. If the weather is hot, a few shower stalls will be located along the course, between some of the refreshment stations. There will be some extra refreshment stations along the course provided by race sponsors. If you decide Not to finish the race, please report to the nearest refreshment station or to the Information at ”Östermalms IP”. Return your Champion Chip at the same time to the official. Free transportation will be provided from the refreshment stations to the finish area for non-finishers by Taxi Stockholm. Toilet facilities will be found at ”Östermalm IP” and at the refreshment stations. Elapsed time is shown on digital clocks positioned along the right hand side of the route at 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, 21.1 km (halfway), 25 km, 30 km, 35 km and 40 km. Maximum race time is six hours, which means that the finish will be closed at 20.00. Three check points along the course must be passed by a certain time. The first point is located after 21.5 km (outside the Stadium) and will close at 16.55. The second point, at 28.5 km (”Strandvägen”), will close at 17.55. The third, at 31.5 km (”Söder Mälarstrand”) will close at 18.25. Runners who not reach the check points in time will be transported to ”Östermalms IP”. Checkpoints: At three locations along the course your Champion Chip will be recorded to check that all runners complete the whole course. Doctors and nurses will be present at the start and finish areas and at each refreshment station along the course. The race will finish in the 1912 Olympic Stadium where no less than 81 officially recognised world records in track and field have been set. Here you will get your medal. After finishing the race, proceed to ”Östermalms IP” (about 300 metres from the finish) where you will find a post-race service offering water, coffee, fruit etc. There will be stretching and a massage service for tired muscles. ![]() Return your chip: At Östermalms IP you must return your Champion Chip. When you do this you receive your Stockholm Marathon finisher T-shirt. The official results of the race together with a certificate will be mailed to all finishing runners by early July. The preliminary results will be available on the Internet from 21.00 on 3 June. Internet website: www.marathon.se/eng Age categories: The Stockholm Marathon includes the following age categories for men and women: Open (born 1961 – 83), 40 plus (born 1956 – 60), 45 plus (born 1951 – 55), 50 plus (born 1946 – 50), 55 plus (born 1941 – 45) and 60 plus (born 1940 or earlier). Awards: Each runner who finishes the Stockholm Marathon in less than 6 hours will receive a commemorative medal. Top runners will also receive special prizes. Rules: Stockholm Marathon is conducted in accordance with the rules laid down by the IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation) and the Swedish Athletic Association. The course is certified by Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and by the Swedish Athletic Association.
