Welcome to Stockholm
The 29th Stockholm Marathon will start at 14.00 on Saturday 9 June. Entries from a record number of 17 500 runners have been accepted. Here you will find important information about the race. Please read carefully.
Your start number is printed on the registration card which all runners will get by regular mail in early May. You are required to present this card when you pick up your race number.
Registration
Registration will be held at a new ice hockey hall, 500 metres from the 1912 Olympic Stadium. Entry is from the street ”Lidingövägen” which runs alongside the Olympic Stadium (see map). Registration will be open on Friday, 8 June from 10.00 to 20.00 and on Saturday, 9 June from 09.00 to 12.30. At the registration you will get your race number. During the race, your number bib must be clearly visible on your chest. On the number bib the letter A, B, C, D, E or F is printed. The letter indicates in which group you will start. It is, of course, forbidden for runners to give their race number to another runner. Please complete the information on the reverse side of the number bib.
Free rides on buses, underground and local trains
The best way of getting to and from the registration and start/finish at the Olympic Stadium is by underground train (”T-banan”). You get off at the station ”Stadion”. On 8 and 9 June you just show your number bib when you enter the underground, a local bus or la ocal train and you will get a free ride, courtesy of SL, the local public transport company. Start List
You will find the start list under Search entries. All runners will get their start numbers stated in this list by the end of April.
Champion Chip
At the registration you will also receive your Champion Chip which will be used to record your time during the race. For more information – read here!
Before the start
”Östermalms IP” is open from 10.00 on 9 June. This is where all runners assemble before the start.
Changing rooms
A limited number of changing rooms are available: • The male and female top runners in group A use the changing rooms at the Olympic Stadium. • All other female runners use the changing rooms at ”GIH Badet”. • Male runners in group B use changing rooms at ”Idrottshögskolan”. • All other male runners use the changing rooms or the big tent at ”Östermalms IP”. All changing rooms are open from 10.00 to 21.00 on race day. Do not leave any valuables in the changing rooms!
Clothing
You are advised to place your track suit or any other clothing in specially designated areas at ”Östermalms IP”. Place your clothing in the plastic bag you get at the registration. Please stick on the bag the adhesive label, marked with your name and start number, that you get with your number bib. Leave the bag in the designated area not later than 13.30. Please show your number bib when you collect your clothing after the race. Do not leave any valuables in the bag!
Safety deposit service
For safe keeping of your valuables we advise you to hand them in at the safety deposit service at ”Östermalms IP”. You must present your number bib, which is your receipt, when you reclaim your valuables after the race.
The start
The race starts at 14.00 on ”Lidingövägen”, a street which runs alongside ”Östermalms IP”. (see map) Runners are divided into six start groups according to previous marathon results. The letter on your number bib shows your start group. • Group A: Top runners, men with numbers 1–100 and women with K1–K100 starts first. • Group B: Men with numbers 101–400 and 15001–15500. • Group C: Men with numbers 401–2500 and 16001–17000 plus women with numbers K101–K250 and K4001–K4500. • Group D: Men with numbers 2501–5500 and 17001–18000 plus women with numbers K251–K900 and K 4501–K5000. • Group E: Men with numbers 5501–8500 and 18001 and higher numbers plus women with numbers K901–K2000 and K5001 and higher. • Group F: Men with numbers 8501– 15000 and women with numbers K2001–K4000.
Runners who finished the 2006 Stockholm Marathon have got the same start number as their place in last years marathon. Runners who did not finish the 2006 Stockholm Marathon have got start numbers according to previous marathon results.
To the start
Each group has its own start pen on the street ”Lidingövägen”. From 13.15 you may walk from ”Östermalms IP” to your group´s start pen. There are two exits from ”Östermalms IP”. Each exit is clearly marked with the letters of the start groups which use this exit. The short walk from ”Östermalms IP” to ”Lidingövägen” is also marked with the letter of your start group. You will be checked when you enter your start pen on ”Lidingövägen”. You must be in your start pen no later than 13.45. At each start pen there will be water on the right side of the street and toilets on both sides.
The course
The course is two laps through the central parts of Stockholm. Note that the laps are not identical. The first lap is 20 kilometres, the second lap is 22 kilometres. Each kilometre is indicated by a sign. The course is 42.195 metres. Since this is a two lap course the top runners will lap the slower runners by the end of their second lap. To avoid problems, runners on lap one must keep to the right. Runners on lap two keep to the left! Runners must follow instructions from the policemen and race officials along the course.
Drink stations
Drink stations are at about every third kilometre (about every 2 miles) along the route. See the map above for exact locations. There will be two long tables at each station. At the first table, covered with red plastic, the energy drink Maxim Electrolyte Red Fruit, is served. At the second table, covered with blue plastic, water is served. We will use the mix of 4-5% (40-50 gram Maxim per liter water) which is recommended by Maxim. Large trash bags for used cups will be placed after the refreshment stations. Please leave your cups here.
Sponge
At the registration you get a sponge. You can keep this sponge during the race and use it to refresh yourself at the sponge stations that are situated just before each drink station. After the race, please put your sponge in one of the large barrels that are placed after the finish line.
Shower stations
Shower stations will be located along the course.
Extra energy
There will be energy stations along the course provided by race sponsors. Chocolate bars, pickled gherkins, dextrose and sweets are provided at these extra stations At 32 kilometres Knorr vegetable stock will be served, at 36 kilometres coffee will be served. At two of the drink stations you can pick up bananas.
Toilets
Toilet facilities are situated at ”Östermalms IP”, the start area and at each drink station.
Abandoned race
If you decide not to finish the race, please report to the nearest drink station or to the Information tent at ”Östermalms IP”. You must return your Champion Chip to an official. Free transportation will be provided from the refreshment stations to the finish area for non-finishers by Taxi Stockholm.
Intermediate times
The intermediate times are shown on digital clocks positioned along the route at 5 kilometres, 10 kilometres, 15 kilometres, 21.1 kilometres (halfway), 25 kilometres, 30 kilometres, 35 kilometres and 40 kilometres. At these points your indivudual intermediate times are recorded.
Maximum running time 6 hours
Maximum running time is 6 hours, which means that the finish will be closed at 20.00. Three check points along the course must be passed by a certain time. • The first point is located after 20 kilometres (outside the Stadium) and will close at 16.50. • The second point, at 28 kilometres (”Strandvägen”), will close at 18.00. • The third, at 31 kilometres (”Söder Mälarstrand”) will close at 18.30. Runners who do not reach the check points in time will be provided with transportation to ”Östermalms IP”.
Medical personnel
Medical personnel will be in attendance at the start and finish areas and at each drink station along the course. The medical personnel are authorised to order exhausted or injured runners to drop out.
Finish in the 1912 Olympic Stadium
The race will finish in the 1912 Olympic Stadium where no less than 83 officially recognised world records in track and field have been set. Here you will be given the 2007 Stockholm Marathon medal and a bottle of mineral water. After finishing the race, please proceed to ”Östermalms IP” (about 300 metres from the finish) where you will find the post race service offering water, soft drinks, coffee, snacks, fruit, hot dogs, recovery drink etc. There will also be a massage service for tired muscles.
Return your chip
At ”Östermalms IP” you must return your Champion Chip. Then you will receive the 2007 Stockholm Marathon finisher´s T-shirt. If you do not finish, leave your chip in the Information tent at ”Östermalms IP” or mail it to: Stockholm Marathon, Box 10023, 100 55 Stockholm, Sweden.
Results
The preliminary results will be available here on the Stockholm Marathon website from 21.00 on race day. The official results will be availabel on this website a few days after the race.
Results booklet
The official results booklet of the race together with a certificate will be mailed to all finishing runners by mid July.
Souvenirs
Stockholm Marathon T-shirts, sweat suits, sweat shirts, post cards etc. will be sold at the registration and at ”Östermalms IP” after the race.
Age categories
The 2007 Stockholm Marathon includes the following age categories for men and women: Open (born 1968–89), 40 plus (born 1963–67), 45 plus (born 1958–62), 50 plus (born 1953–57), 55 plus (born 1948– 52), 60 plus (born 1943 – 47) and 65 plus (born 1942 or earlier).
Awards
Each runner who finishes the race in less than 6 hours will receive a commemorative medal. Top runners will also receive additional awards.
Honorary diploma and medal
When you have completed Stockholm Marathon five times you are given a diploma. After ten races you receive a medal. Diplomas are also awarded after 15 and 20 finishes. After finishing 25 times you are awarded the honorary medal. The medal or diploma will be sent to you in July.
Rules
Stockholm Marathon is conducted in accordance with the rules laid down by the Swedish Athletic Association and by the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations).
Certified course
The course is certified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Road Races).
Insurance
You participate at your own risk. All runners are however insured against accidents which might occur during the race. For information, please contact the Stockholm Marathon office.
Important to drink!
The average temperature in Stockholm at this time of the year is 18 degrees C or 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather might however be much warmer some times. In case of sunshine and high temperatures be sure to drink enough both before, during and after the race. The effects of dehydrating are magnified on a hot day!

Final note
Take it easy! Remember that running 42.195 metres on hard pavement is demanding. Do not start unless you are entirely healthy. If you are uncertain please contact our medical team at the registration. Remember that there is no reason for embarrassment if you cannot finish the race. Anyone can have an unlucky day.
