Spectator information adidas Stockholm Marathon 2025
Saturday, May 31st, will be a festive day in Stockholm, and we want to invite all visitors and residents of the city to join in. Here are some important things to know to get the most out of your spectator experience at the adidas Stockholm Marathon 2025.
Spectator areas
The Start
The start of the adidas Stockholm Marathon is an extraordinary spectacle, with tens of thousands of enthusiastic runners lining up on Lidingövägen, creating an electrifying atmosphere! You can take a spot on the sidewalks after the starting line on Lidingövägen. Note that it will not be allowed to sit on the rock edges facing the start; all spectators will be directed to the sidewalks outside the barriers we set up. It is also nice to stand along Vallhallavägen to see the lead car turn up with the entire lead pack in tow! Please note that shortly after the first runners have passed Stockholm Olympic Stadium, we will also open the other side of Vallhallavägen for the runners to spread out at the start.
Along the course
The course has several popular spectator spots where runners sometimes pass multiple times. Along the course, there are DJs, speakers, live music, and sponsor activations, many of them easily accessed by underground or a short walk from the Stockholm Olympic Stadium.
See our dynamic map for entertainment and spectator spots (in Swedish but easily translated) map
Nation stations
The six nations with the most participants in this year’s adidas Stockholm Marathon will have their own DJ station. In various places along the course, there are two dedicated Swedish stations and also stations for the United Kingdom, Norway, Finland, Germany, and France. Each nation station offers music from the country with familiar hits to sing along and cheer to. Here you will find the specific nation stations:
- Sweden in Swedish – the intersection of Vallhallavägen/Lidingövägen (last passage around 18:40)
- France – the intersection of Norrmälarstrand/Kungsholmstorg (last passage around 14:20)
- United Kingdom – Vasabron, Gamla Stan side (last passage around 17:40)
- Sweden billboard – the intersection of Strandvägen/Narvavägen (last passage around 18:10)
- Germany – Oxenstiernsgatan, near the intersection of Karlavägen (last passage around 14:20)
- Finland – the top of Katarinavägen (last passage around 15:50)
- Norway – Kornhamnstorg (last passage around 17:45)
Finish Line at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium
We welcome everyone who wants to come to the Stockholm Olympic Stadium and take part in the fantastic finish. The spectator entrance at Vallhallavägen opens at 12:30 when the last runners have passed after the start. Note that the authorities have issued a bag ban for spectators at the Stadium, and we will only allow bags for medical reasons and diaper bags accompanying a child. At the Stadium, we allow flags and cheer signs, but no signs or flags attached to poles. You can also bring a water bottle/drink in your hand into the Stadium. At the Stadium area, there is a café with food and drinks to buy at Kajsas Café. After the finish, the runners will go through a chute to Östermalms IP, which is only accessible to runners. We will place meeting points from A to F on Lidingövägen outside Östermalms IP where you can arrange to meet up with friends and family after the race.
Follow your favourite runners
You can follow a runner’s split times during the race via the adidas Stockholm Marathon app or the results page’s ”tracking and replay” published on our website → stockholmmarathon.se. Through the app, you get live updates and notifications at each split (every 5 kilometers). If the runner you want to follow has chosen to share their GPS position during the race, you can follow the runner’s current position throughout the race. It costs 40 kronor to follow runners via the app, and you can follow up to 20 runners simultaneously.
Plan Your Trip, avoid ques and possible congestions
Travel to and from the Event Area at Stockholm Stadium and Östermalms IP by Underground and on foot. Approximately 1–2 hours before the start and 4–5 hours after the start, there will be a high volume of runners using Stadion underground station, which may lead to queues at the ticket barriers. We therefore kindly ask spectators to use the Tekniska Högskolan, Östermalmstorg or Gärdet underground stations instead, to help runners reach their destination more quickly.
About safety during the event
For you as a spectator to feel safe while participating in our event, we have decided together with the police authority to implement several safety measures.
At Östermalms IP, which is the gathering and service area for participants before the start and after the finish, access is only for participants and working staff on Saturday, May 31st. We refer spectators and relatives to the meeting points on Lidingövägen just outside Östermalms IP where you can meet up after the race. At the Stockholm Olympic Stadium, there is a bag ban for spectators all day on Saturday, May 31st, except for bags brought for medical reasons and diaper bags accompanying a child. We will have staffed entrances and exits with checks from the time we open the Stadium for spectators at 12:30. The spectator entrance is at Vallhallavägen, through the so-called Marathon Gate.
As a spectator, you will notice that there is security personnel and guards around and inside the arenas on May 31st. Always turn to them or our staff if you want to ask something or find yourself in a situation that makes you feel unsure in any way. They are there for you!
